project 1 : case study - analysing passive design strategies

In this project, we were required to choose a building in Klang Valley that best features two passive design strategy for a tropical climate. In a group of 7, we did a case study on the Shanlini Ganendra Gallery. The passive design features which we studied on were shading and its Wind Analysis. After analyzing, we realised that the strategies used were suitable in maintaining thermal comfort as a building requires more shading and having wind chimney can helps to reduce heat in the building.

Through this project, I had identified multiple passive design features in a green building and also the principles of heat transfer in relation to building and people. I learnt what is thermal comfort and the factors and effects that relates to it. Besides that, I was able to explain the effect of insulation and air movement in thermal performance of buildings.
